New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the proposed One Nation, One Election (ONE) system will ensure the stability of democracy in the country. He made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Lucknow.

"ONE will strengthen the federal structure of the country and will also ensure the stability of democracy," Adityanath said. He added that the system would also help in reducing the expenditure incurred on elections.

The ONE system, which has been proposed by the BJP, envisages holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, and local bodies across the country. The idea is to reduce the frequency of elections and the consequent expenditure.

The BJP has been pushing for the ONE system for several years now. However, it has faced opposition from some regional parties, who argue that it would erode the powers of the states.

Adityanath's comments come at a time when the BJP is gearing up for the next round of assembly elections in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur. The party is hoping to win these elections and strengthen its position in the country.

The ONE system is a complex issue with far-reaching implications. It is likely to be debated for many years to come. However, Adityanath's comments suggest that the BJP is serious about pushing for this system.
