1. Vacancy for 921 posts including Sub Inspector in UP Police
Notification for SI and ASI recruitment has been issued in UP Police. Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has invited applications for recruitment to the posts of Sub Inspector (Confidential), Assistant Sub Inspector of Police (Clerk) and other posts. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website from January 7. The last date for depositing fees and making corrections in the form is 30 January 2024.
Candidates between 21 to 28 years of age can apply for these posts. Apart from this, SC, ST and OBC categories have been given age relaxation of 5-5 years. Candidates who have completed 21 years of age and not more than 28 years as on 1st July 2023. For a stenographer, it is necessary to have a bachelor's degree and knowledge of computer and typing. 1. Neena Singh becomes the first woman Chief of CISF
On December 28, 1989 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Neena Singh has been given the responsibility of Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She is the first woman officer to be appointed to this post.

Neena Singh was currently on the post of Special DG of CISF, she joined CISF in 2021. Her retirement will be on July 31, 2024, till then she will remain on the post of CISF Chief. Neena Singh was the Joint Director of CBI between 2013 and 2018, during which she worked on many high profile cases.

2. CS Rajan becomes the new chairman of Kotak Mahindra Bank
On December 27, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Chandrashekhar Rajan as the new chairman of Kotak Mahindra Bank. He will replace the current chairman Prakash Apte.

Rajan was appointed Independent Director on the board of Kotak Mahindra Bank on 22 October 2022. He retired as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Rajasthan in 2016 after serving as a civil servant for 38 years.

3. Ambati Rayudu entered politics
On December 28, former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu entered politics after retiring from cricket. He has joined Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party.

By including Rayudu in the party, YSR Congress is considering it a decision to bring the youth of the state into its fold before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Due to not getting a place in the 15-member team of ICC ODI World Cup, Rayudu had announced his retirement from international cricket. He had written a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announcing his retirement from all formats of cricket.

4. Maharani Geeta Devi of Kapurthala passes away
On December 28, Queen Geeta Devi of Kapurthala died in New Delhi at the age of 86 due to heart disease. She lived with her son Tikka Shatrujeet Singh in Greater Kailash Colony, Delhi.

Maharani Geeta Devi was the wife of Brigadier Sukhjit Singh, the Maharaja of Kapurthala, Punjab. Maharaja Sukhjit Singh of the princely state of Kapurthala and Maharani Geeta Devi are survived by their son Shatrujit Singh Tikka and two daughters MK Gayatri Devi MK Preeti Devi.
