Heavy rains have made people's lives miserable in many countries this year. In fact, there was heavy rain in most of the countries due to which there was flooding. Flooding caused havoc in many countries, including Mali. The rainy season this time brought heavy rain for the African country Mali due to which the floods made people's lives miserable. People have not got relief yet, with torrential rains still going on in many parts of the country. For this reason, they face a lot of trouble.
So far, floods have claimed the lives of 177 people since the commencement of the rainy season in Mali this year. This was contained in a report by the inter-ministerial committee in charge of crisis and disaster management in the country, Friday.
The danger due to floods in Mali is yet to pass. Heavy rains continue to fall in most parts of the country, consequently throwing rivers in spate.
The Malian Inter-Ministerial Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management said there were 656 cases of flooding this year, in which 148 people got injured and 37,999 houses collapsed. As many as 2,64,646 people have been affected by floods in the country.
Flood victims reportedly stay in 128 public schools in Mali. At the same time, 167 schools are submerged while 256 have fallen. The new school year of Mali was finally postponed from October 1 to November 4.
People in flood-hit areas of Mali have been advised to move out from the places prone to floods, clear up blocked waterways, avoid using highways and roads passing over flooded areas, keep away from swollen rivers, and not leave their homes unless necessary.
