Google has unveiled new updates coming to Workspace for its messaging service, Google Chat, which is available to all users largely via Gmail. These features will help improve chat between users by making it quicker and far more productive. The voice messaging feature that rolled out from the company earlier this year has been improved further, and some other features have been added to it.

Google has explained the feature in the Workspace blog and given some examples of its real use. It can be used by members of the customer care service and sales team to share their video updates on 'new feature or changes' with regards to your account.

This view will be available in DMs, group DMs, and spaces. Additional interactions will also be made possible on it, such as reacting, replying, or quoting. Messages sent or received will be saved to the media section of the share tab.

This feature is not supported on ChromeOS, Linux, and Firefox. Users can receive video messages on all platforms; however, sending is supported only on the web. This feature is not supported on mobile devices at the moment.

Later, Google announced transcription for voice messages. Now, users will be able to receive automatic transcription for voice messages in chats via both web and mobile. The View transcript option can be tapped below the voice message, along with an option to hide it. Transcription of voice messages is treated as text for screen readers and works according to device language settings.
