'While taking orders, I was stopped from using the lift of the mall', Zomato CEO shared his experience
Zomato: To know the challenges faced by delivery partners, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal played the role of a delivery boy. Sharing the incident that happened with him during this, he alleged that he was stopped from using the lift in a mall in Gurugram.

On Sunday, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal claimed that a mall in Gurugram barred him from using the lift while taking food orders as a delivery executive. Deepinder Goyal, who played the role of a delivery partner with his wife Grecia Munoz, said that when he went to Ambience Mall to take the order, he was asked to go by stairs. Actually, he became a delivery partner to face the challenges faced by delivery partners.
He shared a post on X, tagging a video explaining the experience in the uniform of the Zomato delivery agent. He elaborated, "During the second order, I realised the need to collaborate more with the mall to get better working conditions for all delivery partners and the need for the mall to be more humane towards the delivery partners.". The CEO of Zomato said he was not allowed to use the lift of the mall while taking the order.
He said we reached the Ambience Mall in Gurugram to take an order from Haldiram. I was asked to go from another entrance. Then, I began to realize they were asking me to go by stairs. I went inside again from the main entrance to crosscheck that there was no lift for the delivery partner. Deepinder Goyal mentioned that he used the stairs and went to the third floor, as he found that the delivery partners can't enter the mall and they have to wait on the stairs for receiving the order.
During this, he had fun with his fellow delivery partners and also received valuable feedback from them. The boss of Zomato said that he finally managed to sneak in to collect the order when the staircase guard took a break. Reacting to his post, several users said that it's not the malls alone but many societies too that do not allow entry to their main elevators to the delivery partners. One user felt that every society, mall, and office should make it compulsory to take delivery partners using normal regular common elevators and entrances/exits without any partitioning.
