Sword of impeachment on Muizzu government in Maldives, India distance itself from the matter

The ongoing dispute between India and Maldives has increased the troubles of Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu. During Indian PM Narendra Modi's visit to Lakshadweep and promotion of Lakshadweep, three Maldivian ministers made controversial comments about PM Modi and Indians. Although the three ministers later had to be expelled, Muizzu did not oppose the minister's comments on the matter. Muizzoo has been an opponent of India for a long time and now the sword of impeachment is hanging on his government because of the withdrawal of the Indian Army from Maldives, not calling the comments made on PM Modi wrong and targeting India.

A large number of people in Maldives are angry with Muizzoo due to his anti-India stance and this includes members of the opposition party. Not only this, but the parties supporting Muizzu are also angry with him. The largest party in the opposition has collected all the necessary signatures and a no-confidence motion can be moved against Muizzu soon.

In case of impeachment against Muizzu, if he is found guilty, his presidency may also be snatched away.

Amidst the threat of impeachment of the government in Maldives, India has distanced itself from this matter. When asked about this matter, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "This is an internal matter of Maldives and India does not want to comment on this matter."
