Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister meets Chinese counterpart, discussions held on speedy implementation of projects

Nepal-China: The Ministry of External Affairs said that Nepal's Finance Minister Paudel, during the discussion on Thursday, emphasized the need to work collectively to expedite the implementation of agreements reached between the two governments.

Bishnu Prasad Paudel, the Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, then held a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Ding Xuexiang, wherein discussions were held on all aspects of bilateral relations, including timely project implementation.

Paudel is on a six-day visit to China. He will return to Kathmandu on Saturday. The Ministry of External Affairs said that during the discussion on Thursday, Nepal's Finance Minister Paudel emphasized the need to work collectively to expedite the implementation of agreements reached between the two governments.

Meanwhile, Ding praised the good relations between the two countries and also delineated the importance of practical cooperation between Nepal and China for mutual benefit. Apart from this, the Deputy Prime Minister of China agreed to propose the timely implementation of agreements.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a statement citing that the two leaders agreed to advance projects under the Trans-Himalayan Multidimensional Connectivity Network, which included work on the Kathmandu-Kerung railway, a cross-border transmission line, the Kimathanka-Hile and Hilsa-Simikot road project.

Paudel and Ding also discussed ways of strengthening cooperation in various fields such as infrastructure, tourism, education, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people relationships.

Earlier, the Nepalese Finance Minister met President Luo Zhaohui of China International Development Cooperation Agency and called for deepening cooperation on various aspects of Nepal-China development cooperation. The need for deeper cooperation in the areas of infrastructure development, connectivity, trade and transport, and ports was felt during this time.

Luo praised the Chinese government for expediting the ongoing projects besides the livelihood and good governance projects. The two leaders also discussed cooperation in agricultural and industrial parks and the Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology.
