It came on the OTT platform Netflix on 29 December. The controversy regarding this film increased so much that it was removed from the OTT platform Netflix and an FIR was even registered.
Nayanthara has apologized to people while sharing the post on Instagram. He had written Om and Jai Shri Ram at the beginning of the note. After this, she writes, ' I am writing this note with a weighty heart. My film Annapoorani is not only a film but this film also motivates people to move forward in their life.
He further wrote that we wanted to give a positive message through this film, but unknowingly we hurt the sentiments of some people. I or my team had no intention of causing trouble to people. I am a person who celebrates God. I worship God and go to the temple. So this will be the last thing I will do to people. I want to apologize to all those whose sentiments I have hurt. My aim in the last two decades of my film career has been to spread positivity.
In the film, objectionable comments were made on the sentiments of God and Hindus. In the movie, Lord Shri Ram has been described as a 'meat eater'. Due to this people got angry and started demanding to ban Netflix. The controversy regarding this film increased so much that Netflix immediately took action on it and decided to remove it from the OTT platform.
