Much hue and cry is being raised regarding the Vijay Verma-starrer and Anubhav Sinha-directed web series, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. This whole uproar is about showing the Hindu names of the terrorists in the film.

Actually, the terrorists who hijacked the plane were Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Saeed, Gulshan Iqbal, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, Mistry Zahoor Ibrahim, and Shakir. But they called each other Bhola, Shankar, Doctor, Burger, and Chief in code words in the plane. The people of social media object over the names Bhola and Shankar. They say that Anubhav Sinha deliberately took the Hindu names.

Now, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has summoned the Netflix content head tomorrow, seeking a response over this from the streaming platform. However, according to the report from the Ministry of External Affairs, dated January 2000, the code words used by the hijackers have been shown in the series as well.

Many politicians have already given their side on this matter. Speaking on this, BJP's Amit Malviya said, "The hijackers of IC-814 were dreaded terrorists who adopted aliases to hide their Muslim identity. Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha legitimized their criminal intent by promoting their non-Muslim names."
