Mpox is scaring in Pakistan, now three new cases surfaced in Karachi; Government on high alert
Pakistan Mpox cases: There has been a steady increase in monkeypox cases in neighboring Pakistan. Now three passengers who arrived at Karachi airport in Pakistan from Saudi Arabia showed symptoms of monkeypox during medical screening, after which the government is on alert. The passengers have been shifted to Sindh Government Hospital in NIPA area for further examination.

Presently, the growing case of monkeypox, popularly known as Mpox globally, has come to the notice of everyone. In neighboring Pakistan too, its cases have gone up gradually. Today, three passengers that arrived at Karachi airport in Pakistan from Saudi Arabia developed symptoms of monkeypox during the medical screening, after which the government has gone on alert.
ARY News quoted that the passengers have been sent to Sindh Government Hospital in NIPA area for further examination. Sources said, Airport officials have also started disinfecting the immigration area and walkways by using spray for precaution.
Also, a suspected case of mpox was reported at Jinnah International Airport on morning September 20. There is an admission to further investigation in the hospital. The patient is a male of 26 years with a residence address: Abbottabad, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The person was flagged for suspected M-Pox during a health check-up on arrival at the airport.
"The passenger had rashes and some lesions on his skin. His condition is stable," a doctor at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital and Research Centre said.
Earlier this month, on September 15, Jinnah International Airport authorities reported another suspected case of monkeypox. A passenger arriving from Jeddah on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight showed symptoms of the infection.
He was immediately moved to a government isolation ward in Sindh for further evaluation and treatment, Dawn reported.
Meanwhile, the National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued a warning about the growing outbreak of monkeypox that has spread to several countries. With the number of cases steadily increasing, recent reports suggest that at least nine cases have been confirmed in Pakistan, highlighting the urgent need for public health measures to combat the spread of the m-pox virus, Dawn reported.
