'Stree 2' could not defeat 23 year old RHTDM, created 'havoc' even after re-release

Stree-2 was ruling the box office alone for some time. The movie is making records one after the other. However, amidst all this, theater owners are once again betting on old films, which were largely successful with the collection of RHTDM. Stree 2 also could not stop R Madhavan's film released 23 years ago at the box office.

While the makers are delaying the announcement of new film releases due to the fear of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao-starrer film 'Stree 2', many films of the 90s and 2000s gave a tough competition to 'Stree 2' in theaters last Friday.

Last Friday saw Gangs of Wasseypur, Quotation Gang, A Wedding Story and R Madhavan-Diya Mirza's romantic film 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein' all releasing together in theaters.

This can be further corroborated through the re-releases of all these films, where, in particular, Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur and Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein did great business at the box office even upon re-release.

The romantic drama film of Dia Mirza-Saif Ali Khan and R Madhavan, 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil', was released in the year 2001. The film was directed by Gautam Vasudev Menon. This film did not prove to be a hit at the time of its release. The lifetime collection of the film at that time was only Rs 5.52 crore in India and Rs 8.61 crore worldwide.

However, when the movie came on TV, people liked it a lot. You can guess how much craze there is for this film among the people from the collection of the re-release of the movie. According to Money Control reports, even after being released after 23 years, the film has made a net collection of 1.10 crores in India in the weekend at the box office.

The process of re-releasing films of the 90s has started once again. Many big films of that era are doing very good business at the box office today. R Madhavan and Dia Mirza's romantic drama film 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein' is a Hindi remake of the Tamil movie 'Minnale', which was released that year.

R Madhavan played the character of 'Rajesh Shivkumar' in the Tamil film. Leading actress of Tamil and Telugu cinema Reema Sen was seen in the role of Dia Mirza in Minnale. Apart from this, actor Abbas played the role of Saif Ali Khan.
