Tug of war over NCP's name and election symbol, Ajit said - We will also present our side before the Election Commission
The Sharad Pawar faction and Ajit Pawar camp had sought four weeks' time to respond to the Election Commission's notice on the party's claim over the name and symbol. An additional time of three weeks was given on 14th August. Ajit spoke to journalists regarding the hearing in the Commission.

There is a tug of war going on between Sharad Pawar and nephew Ajit Pawar regarding the name and election symbol of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Recently, the Election Commission had extended the time for both the parties to respond to the notice. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar told reporters that everyone has the right to express their views.
Situation changed after Ajit's rebellion
It is noteworthy that on July 5, the Election Commission had received affidavits of 40 MPs, MLAs and MLCs as well as a proposal from some NCP members, in which they had elected Ajit Pawar as the NCP chief. A letter in this regard was written on June 30. Two days before this, Ajit Pawar had torn the NCP into two and took oath along with eight ministers. Ajit was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Ajit's new statement
On the Election Commission of India's hearing on the claim of NCP party's election symbol and name, Ajit Pawar said that everyone has the right to present their side, we will also present our side before the Election Commission.

What did the Election Commission say?
Both the Sharad Pawar faction and the Ajit Pawar camp had sought four weeks' time to respond to the Election Commission's notice on the claim over the party's name and symbol. Later on August 14, the Election Commission has given three weeks additional time to the opposition factions of NCP to respond to the notice related to the party's name and symbol.
Notice was issued in the case on July 27
Earlier, the Election Commission had issued a notice in the matter on July 27. The Commission had asked for documents from both the camps related to their claim of being the real party. The Election Commission had asked both the camps to exchange documents within the stipulated time.
