Supreme Court Latest News: The Supreme Court will hear the petition of the Gandhi family and Aam Aadmi Party in the Income Tax Assessment case. A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna said that notice has not yet been issued on their petitions challenging the order of the Delhi High Court denying them relief.
The Supreme Court will next hear the petition of the Gandhi family and AAP in the Income Tax Assessment case on November 28. The court on Friday postponed the hearing till December 13 on the petitions of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as well as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the matter will be heard again today.
A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna said notice has not yet been issued on their petitions challenging the Delhi High Court order denying them relief. Justice SVN Bhatti was also included in this bench.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said it was 'not necessary' to issue a formal notice in the case, and as earlier indicated by the court the Income Tax Department would not pass any final assessment order. Similar petitions have also been filed by the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust, Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, Jawahar Bhawan Trust and Young Indians. In the case, the bench today asked the Income Tax Department to bring the relevant file on the next date of hearing, December 13.
