Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, has received a bomb threat. A mail has been sent from an unknown person that if one million dollars in Bitcoin is not paid within the next 48 hours, the airport's Terminal 2 will be blown up. Mumbai Police has registered the case and started an investigation. After seeing the email, police registered a case under sections 385 and 505 (1) (B) against an unknown person with the help of the email ID.
According to media reports, the alleged threat email was sent to Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) on Thursday from an ID 'quaidacasrol@gmail.com'. It was written in the email, that this is the last warning to your airport, if this does not happen, we will bomb Terminal 2 of the airport within 48 hours. Pay one million dollars in Bitcoin to avoid this. Another warning will be given after 24 hours.
Mumbai Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and initiated an investigation into the matter. It has been reported that the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the mail has been detected. However, they have not been able to trace the location of the email sender yet. Police have invoked several sections against the accused for extortion and statements made with intent to disturb public peace.
