Those who do not have a bank account, they will be able to change 2000 rupee notes like this.
2000 Rupee Note: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took a big decision on pink notes of ₹ 2000 and announced to withdraw it from circulation. In such a situation, the question arises that those who do not have a bank account, how will they be able to exchange the ₹ 2000 note.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced to withdraw ₹ 2000 notes. But this note will remain valid till 30 September 2023. The Reserve Bank of India has advised banks to stop issuing ₹2000 notes with immediate effect. That is, those who currently have thousand rupee notes will have to exchange them from the bank, according to RBI, printing of ₹ 2000 notes was stopped from 2018-19 itself. After that, this note disappeared from the eyes of the common man. Now the biggest question arises if a person has ₹2000 notes, and they do not have a bank account, then what do they have to do to exchange these notes? Is there any rule made for this?
The Reserve Bank of India has said that ₹2000 notes will remain in circulation till 30 September. This means that those who currently have ₹2000 notes will have to exchange them at the bank. For this, the time has been fixed from May 23 to September 30. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has advised the banks that they will no longer give new ₹ 2000 notes to any customer.
The second question is whether any customer can exchange ₹ 2000 notes only from the same bank in which he has an account. Responding to this, RBI has clearly said that any person can exchange ₹ 2000 notes up to a limit of ₹ 20000 at a time from any branch of any bank in the country. That is, it is not necessary to have an account in the bank and people will not have to pay any extra amount to exchange the notes. This facility will be completely free of cost.
RBI said that this decision has been taken under the 'Clean Note Policy'. In the Clean Note Policy, people have been requested not to write anything on currency notes. It is often seen that people put their signature or write their name on the note without any meaning.
RBI has advised people not to do such acts. Because doing so spoils its appearance and reduces its life. A clean note policy has been implemented to achieve this goal that people get good quality banknotes in transactions.
Due to the closure of 2000 notes, common people may have to face trouble. However, it will not be the same situation as in 2016. Because then 500 and 1000 notes were closed. Both these notes were very much in circulation at that time. In such a situation, people had to stand in long lines to change it. But the 2000 note is already less in the market, so there will not be much trouble in changing this note.
