According to the Department of Communications, a Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) has been launched to prevent cyber crime so that the use of telecom resources for cyber crime and financial fraud can be stopped.

Looting in the name of customs, drugs, sex racket and then fraud-arrest. This type of fraud is coming to the light every day, these days. Many famous people are falling prey to it. Recently, cyber criminals cheated the owner of a famous company in the textile sector of Rs 7 crore. The Ministry of Communications has begun working on how to foil this conspiracy of these sitting abroad completely, and such a system is being worked upon so that such fake calls made from abroad do not reach the consumers of the country.

These days, more than one crore calls are being made from abroad for cyber fraud or crime. With the help of telecom companies, 45 lakh of these calls are foiled every day. The department says that soon such a centralized system will be implemented with the help of which calls made from abroad for cyber crime can be completely foiled.

While more than 120 crore people use mobile phones and 95 crore use the Internet, cybercriminals are misusing the facility of Calling Line Identity to mask their actual identity. Recently, the Department of Communications has launched Digital Intelligence Platform that aims checking use of telecom resources for crime in cyberspace and financial fraud.

In this platform, all the telecom companies, the Ministry of Home Affairs and 460 banks and financial institutions, police of all the states and union territories, besides various central agencies have been integrated in such a way that real-time actioning may be taken on the reporting of cyber fraud and an alert can be issued across the country, in case a mobile phone number is found suspicious or its connection is disconnected. This channel also makes information about the cancellation of mobile numbers from service throughout the country available.

The department says that with the help of Artificial Intelligence to Department of Communications is catching those who take mobile connections on the basis of fake documents. Consumers also need to play active roles in preventing cybercrime. Besides, they can give information about any suspicious call or SMS on the Sanchar Saathi portal. On this portal, consumers can lodge complaints that range from theft of mobile phones to SIM and all complaints relating to telecom service.
