Sunita Williams' return date to Earth has been fixed, NASA has approved it
Sunita Williams: US space agency NASA on Sunday formally announced the date of return of Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore to Earth.
The date for the return to Earth of Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams, who has been stuck in space for 2 months, has come out. America's space agency NASA has confirmed that Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will return to Earth from space in February 2025. Then both these astronauts will stay in the Space Station i.e., of space. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. According to NASA, bringing back 2 astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams at the moment is very risky due to which Boeing's Starliner capsule will return without two astronauts.
Wilmore and Williams will turn their work formally into being part of the expedition and will be back on February 25, 2025. Essentially, what this means is a test flight slated to take place in a week now is extended to about 8 months.
According to NASA, Sunita and Wilmore will join two other crew members assigned to the agency's SpaceX Crew-9 mission and return home aboard the Dragon spacecraft. Starliner is due to exit the space station and enter an orbit before landing on Earth by the start of September. This uncrewed return of the capsule could allow NASA and Boeing to collect test data during Starliner's new flight without putting its crew at unnecessary risk.
Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who flew to the International Space Station in June on NASA's Boeing Crew Flight Test, are supporting research, maintenance of the station, and testing of Starliner systems with associated data analysis.
