Shaheen Afridi's leave, Babar Azam gets ODI and T20 captaincy again
Babar Azam was reinstated as Pakistan captain: Babar Azam has once again been appointed the captain of the Pakistan team. He will be seen commanding the team in white ball cricket. Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been stripped of captaincy.

Pakistan's captain is now once again Babar Azam. Pakistan will be led by Babar in the short overs. The Pakistan Cricket Board has declared that Babar will take over as captain. Babar might soon be named captain once more, according to a report published just a few days ago by ESPN Cricinfo.
Babar's appointment to the post of captain means that Shaheen Shah Afridi is no longer Pakistan's T20 captain. He was able to lead Pakistan in only one series. "On the recommendation of the Selection Committee, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as the limited overs captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team," the PCB posted on its X handle.
In the T20 series against New Zealand, Pakistan had to face a 1-4 defeat, while in the PSL, under Afridi's captaincy, his team Lahore Qalandars could win only one out of 10 matches, since then his captaincy was under threat. Babar had to step down from the captaincy of Pakistan after Pakistan's poor performance in the ODI World Cup.
