On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the price of gas cylinder was reduced by Rs 200... From today, the subsidy for the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will be reduced from Rs 200. It is being increased to 300."

Tenancy regulation approved for three union territories

The Union Cabinet has approved tenancy regulations for the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Dadra-Nagar Haveli and Daman-Diu to provide a "legal framework" for creating an accountable and transparent ecosystem for renting out premises. The Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the proposal to promulgate Andaman and Nicobar Islands Tenancy Regulation, 2023, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Tenancy Regulation, 2023 and Lakshadweep Tenancy Regulation, 2023 under Article 240 of the Constitution. Approval was given.

Article 240 empowers the President to make rules for the Union Territories. The statement said that these rules will provide a legal framework to create an accountable and transparent ecosystem for renting premises in the Union Territories by balancing the interests and rights of both the landlord and the tenant.

"The rules will encourage private investment and entrepreneurship in the rental market, create adequate rental housing for different income sections of the society, including migrants, formal and informal sector workers, professionals, students, etc.," the statement said. "

Center will create National Turmeric Board, target of export of one billion dollars by 2030

The central government will set up a National Turmeric Board with the aim of promoting the production of medicinal herbs and increasing its exports to US$ 1 billion or Rs 8,400 crore by 2030. After getting the approval of the Cabinet, the government issued its notification on Wednesday. The board will focus on the development of turmeric and its products in the country. Union Minister Kishan Reddy said that this decision will also fulfill the long pending demand of the farmers of Telangana. He said, the board will help the farmers not only of Telangana but also of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Assam, Gujarat, Odisha and West Bengal. India's share in the world trade of turmeric is more than 62 percent. During 2022-23, more than 380 exporters had exported 1.534 lakh tonnes of turmeric and its products worth US$ 207.45 million.

Terms of reference of Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal also approved

The Cabinet also approved the terms of reference for the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal. This will regulate the sharing of river waters between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Thakur said the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal will provide new terms of reference under which the tribunal will divide the waters of the Krishna River in the future between the two states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Both states will allocate water on a project-wise basis for projects that are for developmental or future purposes.

Center approves completion of remaining work of North Koel Reservoir Project at revised cost

The Cabinet also approved completion of the remaining works of the inter-State North Koel Reservoir Project at a revised cost of Rs 2,430 crore. Upon completion of the remaining work, the project will provide additional annual irrigation to 42,301 hectares in four drought-prone districts of Jharkhand and Bihar. This project is long pending, and completion of this project including additional components like lining of canals will provide water for drinking and additional irrigation. Earlier in August 2017, Rs 1622.27 crore was sanctioned for this work. The increased cost of Rs 457.81 crore will be borne by the Central Government.
