Ravana burning across the country on Dussehra

Ravana Dahan is being burnt across the country today on Vijayadashami, the festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil. Effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna were burnt at Ramlila Maidan in Dwarka Sector 10, Delhi. Here PM Modi attended as the chief guest. Before burning Ravana, he performed aarti of the forms of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman.

Important points of Modi's speech in Dwarka

• This is the festival of Lord Rama's victory over the tyrant Ravana. That's why we burn Ravana every year. This festival is a festival of resolutions for us, a festival of repeating them. This time we are celebrating Vijayadashami when two months have been completed for Chandrayaan to the Moon.
• We know the knowledge of Geeta and also know science. We also know the resolution of Shakti Puja and mantras to remember mother during Navratri. Vijayadashami is a symbol of these thoughts. Today we are fortunate that we are able to see the construction of Ram's temple.
• On the next Ramnavmi, the puja at Ramlala temple in Ayodhya is going to delight the whole world. The grand temple being built on the birthplace of Lord Ram, the divine temple is a symbol of the victory of Indians after centuries of waiting. There are only a few months left for Lord Ram to reside in the Ram temple.
• We entered the new Parliament building just a few weeks ago. To give respect to women power, Parliament passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. The world is looking at India as the Mother of Democracy. We have to create an India of Lord Ram's ideas.
• We have to keep in mind that today the burning of Ravana should not be the burning of just one effigy, it should be the burning of every deformity due to which the harmony of the society deteriorates. Of those powers who work to divide Mother India. That development in which the interest of their development, not India's development, is hidden. The festival of patriotism should be celebrated against every evil of the nation.

The famous Dussehra festival has started in Mysuru. A long procession is being taken out in this. It includes decorated elephants as well as tableaux. Local artists are dancing in front of them. During this time, former king of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadutt Chamaraja Wadiyar was also present.
