Rajasthan government to offer free travel to women and girls on buses for Raksha Bandhan

The Rajasthan government has announced that women and girls will be able to travel for free on Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) buses on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Jaipur : The Rajasthan government has announced that women and girls will be able to travel for free on Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) buses on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who approved the proposal for free travel.

Under the scheme, women and girls will be able to travel for free on all regular and express buses operated by RSRTC within the state on Raksha Bandhan, which falls on Wednesday, August 30.

The cost of the free travel will be reimbursed to RSRTC by the state government from the provisions available under the free travel reimbursement head.

The decision has been welcomed by women's groups and activists, who said it would help to promote women's empowerment and provide them with greater mobility.

"This is a great initiative by the state government," said Shivranjani Rajpurohit. "It will help to ensure that women and girls have access to affordable and convenient transportation, which is essential for their participation in society."
