PCB extends hand in front of ACC President Jay Shah, seeks compensation for losses due to Sri Lankan matches

In the Asia Cup 2023 being played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka on a hybrid model, many matches have been affected due to rain and the India vs Pakistan group stage match had to be cancelled. At the same time, now there is a threat of heavy rain in many matches between India and Pakistan in Super-4. Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board has demanded compensation from Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah to compensate for the loss of gate money due to the match being held in Sri Lanka. There has been no official statement from PCB regarding this. However, some reports have claimed that PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf has written a formal letter to ACC President Jay Shah demanding compensation.

In fact, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf has expressed disappointment over the attitude of the Asian Cricket Council towards scheduling matches in Sri Lanka. Without naming anyone, Ashraf has asked who is responsible for the decision to change the venue of the matches at the last minute without the consent of the ACC board members?

The PCB letter said that in the meeting on September 5, the ACC members along with both the host countries Pakistan and Sri Lanka had decided that the final matches including Super-4 should be held in Hambantota. After this, the Chief Curator of Sri Lanka was also sent there to make the pitch. Along with this, necessary arrangements for broadcasting were also started in Hambantota.

According to the letter, ACC had also sent an email to the Pakistan Cricket Board confirming this. Zaka Ashraf expressed surprise at this and said that after some time the PCB was told not to consider the mail. After this, it was suddenly announced that the matches of Super-4 would be held at the predetermined venue only.
