A International Cricket stadium will be inaugurated on October 20 in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Stadium located in Sigra, Varanasi is constructed and named after Dr Sampurnanand who was the second Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Dr Sampurnanand Sports Stadium is fully prepared; it was constructed in about 15 acre with world-class facilities. Constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 200 crore, this stadium will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Varanasi District Magistrate S. Rajlingam, the stadium is fully ready for the players and is spread over about 15 acres. "This will be the largest stadium in the city. It is equipped with all the facilities," he said.

He further said, "Varanasi's biggest stadium was prepared in three phases. In the first phase, a multi-purpose hall and an Olympic-size swimming pool have been prepared. The second phase has a cricket ground, a National Centre of Excellence, as well as hostels for players and coaches. An synthetic track for athletics has been prepared in the third phase." District Magistrate S. Rajlingam said, "Any player can come here for practice. All types of players have not been restricted to Varanasi here."

Shooter Satyam Singh said, "The biggest thing is that the players needed such a basic facility earlier, too. The children didn't even know what shooting is and how to do it. Now they will be able to come here in the new stadium and practice. This stadium is the best sport center in the district," said Pankaj Srivastava, executive member of District Rifle Club. This facility should have been built 15 years ago here, but we are far behind compared to other areas. We do not have international sports facilities. We lack an international shooting range in the state."

Meanwhile, the progress of the stadium was reviewed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 18. The PM wrote on the post, "Reviewed the progress of Dr Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Kashi. This stadium and sports complex will help the youth of Kashi a lot." Except for a 150-room hostel for the players equipped with modern facilities, Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium has facilities to host 50 sports including judo, karate, table tennis, shooting, lawn tennis, cricket, and hockey as per international standards.
