Manu Bhaker has missed out on making a great record of a hat-trick of medals in the Paris Olympics 2024. Manu Bhaker had maintained a place in the top two for the first seven rounds in the 25m pistol women's final of shooting, but in the eighth set she could not maintain her lead, and with fourth place she missed out on winning the third medal. Earlier in the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh and before that, she won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol.
Manu had made it to the finals by finishing second in the 25-meter pistol qualification rapid round, but she missed the medal at the end of the final. She has now become the first Indian athlete to win two medals in independent India in the same Olympics. Earlier this feat was achieved by Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals for the country in athletics in the Olympics 1900.
Talking about two medals for the country in the Olympics, along with wrestler Sushil Kumar, badminton star player PV Sindhu has also won two medals each, but these medals have come in different Olympics. Sushil Kumar won a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics 2008 and a silver medal in the London Olympics 2012. At the same time, PV Sindhu won a silver medal in Rio Olympics 2016 and a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. At the same time, Manu has now created history by winning three medals in one Olympics.
