Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu was thrashed by 'India' at home, know what happened

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has suffered a major setback in his own country. In fact, in the mayor elections of Male, the pro-India opposition party 'Maldivian Democratic Party' (MDP) won a landslide victory in the capital. In a shock to President Mohamed Muizzu, the people of Maldives have elected MDP candidate Adam Azim as the new mayor of Male.

This post was with Muizzu till recently. But after being elected President last year, Muizzu resigned from the post. Let us tell you that MDP is led by pro-India former President Mohammad Solih, who lost to pro-China leader Muizzu in the general elections.

Recently elections were held for the post of Mayor in Male, the capital of Maldives. In this, Azim defeated Aishath Azima Shakur of the rival party 'People's National Congress' (PNC) led by Muizzu. Let us tell you that the island nation's relations with India have come under strain due to derogatory comments on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the same time, the people of India boycotted Maldives on a large scale and its impact was visible. At the same time, after returning from China after completing his 5-day trip, Muijju's tone has changed and he has targeted India without taking its name.

President Mohamed Muizzu, who returned to Maldives after a five-day state visit to China, on Saturday targeted India without naming it. Speaking to reporters in the capital Male, he said, “We have small islands in this ocean, but we have a huge exclusive economic zone of 9,00,000 square kilometres.

Maldives is one of the countries having the largest part of this ocean. This ocean does not belong to any specific country. The Indian Ocean belongs to all the countries located in this region. We are not in anyone's hangers-on. We are an independent and sovereign nation. Our country may be small, but that doesn't give anyone license to threaten us."

Muizzu's statement comes amid a diplomatic row with India over derogatory comments on social media by three Maldivian ministers against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi was on a visit to Lakshadweep on January 4.

During this time, he had posted some of his pictures on social media, on which three ministers of Maldives had made derogatory tweets about Prime Minister Modi and India. After this, there was discord in the relations between India and Maldives. At the same time, India called the Ambassador of Maldives and also registered its objection.
