JN.1 variant of Corona spread in 40 countries of the world
21 cases in India, WHO said - there is no danger from this, but wear a mask in the crowd. The new sub-variant JN.1 of Corona has spread to 40 countries of the world. So far 21 cases have been reported in India. Of these, 19 cases have been reported in Goa and 1 each in Kerala-Maharashtra.

NITI Aayog member VK Paul said on Wednesday that 16 people have died due to Corona in India in the last two weeks. However, most of these people were also suffering from other diseases like diabetes and heart problem.
According to the Centre, there are about 2300 active cases of Corona across the country. Of these, 91-92% people are getting treatment at home. The symptoms of the virus are quite mild in patients with the new variant. However, there is nothing to panic about.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has included JN.1 as a 'variant of interest'. WHO said that the analysis so far says that the existing vaccine is completely effective on the JN.1 variant. There is not much danger to people from this.
However, WHO has issued an advisory as a precaution. In this, people have been advised to wear masks in crowded, closed or areas with polluted air. Besides, it has also been asked to maintain necessary distance.
Centre's instructions - test all districts
The Central Government has said in its advisory to the states that all the districts should do Covid test. Send positive samples to lab for genome sequencing. Take stock of the preparations from time to time by conducting mock drills.
Due to increase in cases of new variant of Covid-19 JN.1 in Karnataka's neighboring states Kerala and Tamil Nadu, advisory was also issued there.
All elderly people aged 60 years and above, people suffering from diseases like kidney, heart, liver, pregnant women, lactating mothers have been advised to compulsorily wear masks when going out.
As per the instructions of the Centre, there is no need to panic too much now or immediately increase surveillance on the border (Kerala, Tamil Nadu states) by imposing restrictions. However, all border districts adjoining Kerala and Tamil Nadu should remain vigilant. People have been instructed to be especially careful during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Where did JN.1 variant come from in India?
According to Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the first JN.1 variant was detected in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on December 8. The report of a 79 year old woman came positive. The woman had mild symptoms of influenza-like disease. However, she later recovered.
Covid sub-variant JN.1 was first identified in the European country Luxembourg. From here it started spreading to many countries. This sub-variant is linked to the Pirolo variant (BA.2.86). It is being said to be dangerous against the immunity of the human body. This is the reason why an alert has been issued regarding the new sub-variant.

For the past several months, there were reports of the spread of the new Covid variant JN.1 in China. But JN.1 sub-variant has also launched in India. Now the cases of infection caused by this are increasing rapidly in all the states of India. According to latest reports, two people died due to Covid in Kerala. Which has once again spread the fear of coronavirus in the country. The Health Department has issued an alert regarding the virus across the state. Not only this, but cases of the new variant are also increasing rapidly in the neighboring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. After which the hospitals have been kept in alert mode.
The first JN.1 patient was found in America on December 8.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had said that as of December 8, the sub-variant JN.1 was responsible for an estimated 15% to 29% of Covid cases in the US. JN.1 patient appeared for the first time in September.
