During a podcast, Javed Akhtar spoke on the issue of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Javed said that the UCC bill should not be brought only to criticize Muslims, this rule is not wrong but after discussion with the Centre, it should be brought equally.
Speaking on UCC, Akhtar stated that although he abides by this rule, it shouldn't be brought up because Muslims tend to have multiple marriages. People are envious that Muslims are allowed to have four wives, Akhtar joked. Nothing else is deemed to be wrong. According to him, there won't be any issues if other people are granted this right as well. Javed Akhtar went on to claim that Hindus are illegally getting married more than once. They believe that everyone should be treated equally by the law.
