Punjab Kings had to face defeat by three wickets against Gujarat Titans on Sunday night. Batting first, the entire Punjab team collapsed for just 142 runs. After this, Gujarat easily achieved the target with 5 balls remaining. With this, Punjab Kings have suffered a double blow. IPL has fined 50 per cent of the match fee on acting captain Sam Curran. This fine has been imposed on Sam for violating the code of conduct. Sam Curran has confessed to his crime.
A statement issued by the IPL said that Sam Curran has been found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Therefore, he has been fined 50 per cent of the match fee. Curran himself has confessed to his crime. Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct addresses shaking the head, evidently delaying the start of play or abandoning the wicket, and displaying extreme and evident annoyance with the umpire's ruling.
Faf du Plessis, the captain of the RCB, has also been fined. Due to his slow over-rate against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Faf du Plessis has been fined Rs 12 lakh. For the first time this season, Du Plessis has been penalised for slow overrate. His whole team will be required to pay a fine if he is found guilty in this case for the second time.
