IPL 2023: Gujarat breaks RCB's dream, out of playoff race

The 70th and last league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT). In this match played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets with the help of young opener Shubman Gill's brilliant century. With this defeat, RCB is out of the playoff race and Mumbai Indians (MI) have made it to the playoffs.

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 197 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs while batting first after losing the toss. Virat Kohli once again scored a century while batting brilliantly. Kohli scored an unbeaten 101 off 61 balls with the help of one six and 13 fours in this match. Apart from Kohli, captain Faf Duplessis scored 28 off 19 balls, Michael Bracewell scored 26 off 16 and Anuj Rawat scored 23 not out off 15 balls. Noor Ahmed took two wickets, and Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Yash Dayal took one wicket each for Gujarat.

In reply, Gujarat Titans achieved this target by losing four wickets in 19.1 overs. For Gujarat, Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 104 off 52 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 5 fours. This is his second consecutive century in this IPL. Apart from Gill, Vijay Shankar scored 53 off 35 balls. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mohammad Siraj took two wickets, and Harshal Patel and Vijaykumar Vyshak took one wicket each.
