Was injured in the third T20 on South Africa tour
Surya was injured while fielding in the third T20 against South Africa. He had to leave the field. After he left the ground, vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja took over the captaincy of the team. In this match, Surya scored his fourth T-20 century, due to which India leveled the three-match T-20 series. The first T20 match could not be played due to rain, while the second T20 match was won by South Africa.

Surya had a scan after returning from South Africa last week, which revealed that he had an ankle injury. If everything goes well, Surya will be fit by the first week of February. It is expected that Surya will prove his fitness by playing in the domestic tournament Ranji Trophy to be held in February before the IPL.

India defeated Australia under the captaincy of Surya.

Before the South Africa tour and after the ODI World Cup, Surya captained Team India in the T-20 matches against Australia and led India to a series win.

Doubt on Hardik Pandya's playing also
Hardik was injured in the ODI World Cup match against Bangladesh played in Pune on October 19. His ankle was twisted on the third ball of the 9th over of the match. He sat at the crease itself. Due to severe injury, he could not play the rest of the match. His over was also completed by Virat Kohli.

According to the agency, BCCI sources said that Hardik is also unlikely to recover before the home series against Afghanistan. However, nothing has been officially said by BCCI regarding his injury yet.

Jitesh Sharma will do wicketkeeping against Afghanistan
Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who left the South Africa tour midway due to personal reasons, is also likely to be out of the home series against Afghanistan. Ishaan was part of the T-20 and Test team on the South Africa tour.

After the T20, Ishaan withdrew his name from the two-Test series due to personal reasons. It is believed that Ishaan has been out of the house with the team for a year. In such a situation, he wants to strengthen himself mentally by staying away from cricket for a few days. In such a situation, Jitesh Sharma can join the team in the T-20 series against Afghanistan.
