Gujarat government gives relief in prohibition law, employees and guests here will be able to drink liquor

In Gujarat, the birthplace of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, there has been a ban on the sale, use and collection of liquor since the establishment of the state (May 1, 1960). This is the first time that the state government itself has officially permitted to consumption of liquor at any venue. This relaxation has been given in Gujarat International Financial Tech City (GIFT City) being developed in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. Official information about this was given on Friday by the Director of Prohibition and Excise Department of Gujarat. Under this, this decision has been taken at a high level by the state government.

Under this decision, employees, officers, office owners and officially visiting guests of GIFT City will be allowed to consume alcohol. GIFT City is becoming a global financial and technology hub, where economic activities take place. Investors and technology experts come from all over the world. To provide a global business ecosystem for international and national level companies in GIFT City, a high-level decision has been taken to change the prohibition rules to provide wine and dining facilities in the GIFT City area.

Under the decision, all employees and office owners working in GIFT City will be given liquor access permits. Through this, they will be able to go to hotels, restaurants and clubs providing wine and dine service in Gift City and consume liquor there. Apart from this, the guest authorized by each company will also be given a temporary leaker access permit. Such guests will be able to consume liquor in such hotels restaurants or clubs in the presence of a permanent employee of the company.

Under the decision, hotels, restaurants or clubs located in GIFT City will be able to obtain the license of Wine and Dine Facility i.e. FL-3 from the Prohibition and Excise Department. However, such hotels, clubs or restaurants will not be able to sell liquor bottles. They will be able to serve liquor only on their premises. The process of importing, storing or serving liquor in a licensed hotel, restaurant or club will be supervised and controlled by the Prohibition and Excise Department.
