Gaganyaan from ISRO will travel to the International Space Station, mission going on with NASA

India will soon send its first astronaut to the International Space Station. Union Minister Jitendra Singh has given this information in response to a question in the Lok Sabha. Singh said that a Gaganyaan from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will travel to the International Space Station (ISS).

In fact, ISRO and NASA are working on a joint mission for the International Space Station. This will be a joint mission of ISRO, NASA, and a private company Axiom Space. Recently, ISRO has signed a space flight agreement with Axiom Space for this joint mission. The fourth private astronaut mission may be launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida in August 2024.

The Gaganyaantri selected for the ISS mission will be one of the four Indian Air Force pilots who are being trained for the Gaganyaan mission. The Astronaut Selection Board constituted by ISRO selected the four astronauts. All these four astronauts underwent training on the basic module of space flight in Russia during the pandemic. The minister said that currently, Indian astronauts are training at ISRO's Astronaut Training Facility in Bengaluru for the Gaganyaan mission.

On Gaganyaan training, Singh said that two out of the three semesters of the Gaganyaan training program have been completed. Independent training simulator and static mockup simulator have been made.
