Tamil Nadu Rain: It has been raining continuously in many areas of South India for the last several days. The rains of the last several days have created a flood-like situation in Tamil Nadu. Amid heavy rains in many districts, the administration has declared a holiday in schools today. Here, the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) has predicted heavy rains at different places in the state.

Tamil Nadu received widespread rainfall across the state on Thursday due to the intensification of the northeast monsoon, with heavy rainfall recorded in many districts in the south. Following heavy rains and floods, the administration today declared a holiday in schools in several districts, including four taluks of Nilgiris district, besides Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Tiruppur, and Coimbatore districts.

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) of Tamil Nadu has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in the state.

According to the Meteorological Department, at 5.30 p.m. on November 8, a low-pressure area formed over the East Central Arabian Sea due to a cyclonic circulation over the Southeast and adjoining East Central Arabian Sea. The low-pressure area is expected to move almost westwards and become less significant over the same area during the next 24 hours.

Due to incessant rains, landslides were reported at about five places on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway line, due to which the mountain train service was canceled. Landslides also occurred in Kotagiri, affecting road traffic, and as a result, traffic was diverted from Coonoor to Mettupalayam. Kotagiri in Nilgiri district topped the list with 228 mm of rainfall.

According to the RMC, moderate thundershowers occurred in Tenkasi, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai and Tiruvallur districts. Northeast Monsoon is active over the entire state and Chennai and adjoining areas It has rained in areas also.
