FIH Pro League: India beat Argentina 3-0 to return to the top of the table

FIH Pro League India vs Argentina: The Indian hockey team defeated Argentina 3-0 in the FIH Pro League match. Captain Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner in the 33rd minute. Amit Rohidas also converted a penalty corner in the 39th minute, after which Abhishek scored a field goal to make it 3-0.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, and Abhishek starred in second-half performances as India thrashed Argentina 3-0 and returned to the top of the points table in the men's FIH Hockey Pro League. India had slipped to second place after a couple of match losses in London but bounced back to beat Belgium (5-1) and Great Britain 4-2 via a shoot-out. He started with a 1-4 loss to the Netherlands here on Wednesday.

On Thursday, India took the lead in the first half and created a few chances but could not convert. After a goalless first half, India earned their first penalty corner of the match in the third quarter, when captain Harmanpreet Singh fired a powerful drag flick into the bottom right corner to finally break the deadlock.

With this, Harmanpreet has extended her lead to nine goals at the top of the scoring charts with 18 goals in the tournament so far. Harmanpreet was on the bench when India got the next penalty corner. The trap was not good, but Amit Rohidas still managed to catch the fumbling ball and drilled a brilliant drag-flick into the top left corner of the goal.

As the clock struck the end of the match, Argentina threw all their players forward to score. But they were caught on the counter-attack, with Vivek Prasad and Abhishek finding themselves two-on-one with the keeper. Vivek passed to Abhishek to tap it in and seal a 3-0 win.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh, who was adjudged player of the match, gave credit for the win to his defense. Harmanpreet Singh said in a release issued by FIH, “I think we created so many chances but defensively, we defended very well as a team and the composition was playing very well so when we had the chances We scored that goal, our focus was on keeping the ball. For us, the pace of the ball is very important. So we kept the ball and let them run and once we got good chances we went for it.

The win took India to the top spot with 27 points from 14 matches, one point ahead of Great Britain with 12 matches played so far. Spain (17 in 8 matches) is third followed by Australia (16 in 12 matches) fourth and Argentina (13 in 13 matches) fifth.
