Earthquake hits Chile, intensity 4.9 on Richter scale

Earthquakes happen every day somewhere in the world. Earthquakes are happening more frequently and at different locations every day. Their frequency is rising quickly. Among the earthquakes that struck today, Tuesday, April 2, was one in Chile, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale. There was an earthquake 117 kilometres to the west-northwest of Puerto Rico. The earthquake in Chile occurred at 10:49 a.m. Indian time. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has also verified the existence of the earthquake that struck Chile today.

The depth of today's earthquake in Chile was approximately 43.5 kilometres.

People in and around the impacted area were shocked by the earthquake that struck Chile today. Even some people fled their houses. However, there was no damage due to the earthquake.
