Bajrang Punia suspended for the second time in two months, big setback before Paris Olympics
Olympic 2024: The latest order from NADA was issued on Thursday and he has been asked to respond to the fresh suspension by July 11.
Wrestler Bajrang Punia, an Olympic bronze medalist, has been provisionally suspended again by the National Anti-Doping Agency, or NADA. The provisional suspension of Bajrang followed dissent by NADA issuing him a 'notice of charge' for refusing to give a urine sample. This has been provided in a report.
Provisionally suspended last month, Punia had refused to give his urine sample to NADA during the selection trials in Sonipat on 10 March. "The latest order from NADA, according to a Tribune report, was issued on Thursday, and he has been asked to respond to the fresh suspension by July 11."
After reports of his initial final suspension order, the wrestler had clarified that he never "refused to give his sample" and wanted a response from NADA officials on the expired kit that they sent to collect his sample. The Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel removed the suspension of the 30-year-old wrestler later, citing that NADA never latex charges against Bajrang for the anti-doping rule violation allegedly committed in March this year.
