Agatha Sangma, leader of the National People's Party and retiring Member of Parliament from Tura, Meghalaya, has made a significant statement about the Citizenship Amendment Act, or CAA. He claimed that because Meghalaya was exempt from the CAA, I supported it.

She clarified her position and stated that she would not support the bill if Garo Hills was included in the CAA, according to a report from the news agency PTI. She says there is no need to worry because the CAA does not apply in Meghalaya.

Agatha Sangma said that when the CAA bill was introduced in Parliament in 2019, based on the suggestion of then MP and now Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, as well as other MPs, Meghalaya and other north-eastern states, were exempted from its provisions. Was.

Earlier, Conrad K Sangma had also clarified that the CAA will not impact Meghalaya, as only a small part of the state has been kept out of its purview.
