'875 out of 925 complaints of booth capturing from Bengal alone', shocking figures revealed
The Law Ministry told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the Election Commission (EC) has received 925 complaints regarding booth capturing during the 2024 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections but all except three of them were disposed of as the rest were found to be false or baseless. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal provided the Election Commission's information about booth capturing complaints.

The government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that 925 complaints of booth capturing were received in the recent Lok Sabha and assembly elections. Of these, the highest number of 875 complaints were received from Bengal alone. Law Minister Arjun Meghwal, citing Election Commission data, said that 14 people were arrested.
The minister shared this detail in a written reply in the House. He informed that a complaint was received from Arunachal Pradesh. Assembly elections were also held in this state along with Lok Sabha. Two people were arrested here. Whereas 47 complaints of booth capturing were received during the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.
The government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is conducting a detailed study of the recruitment systems of the central and state governments to conduct free and fair examinations. The Cabinet approved this agency in 2020 to conduct online examinations for screening of candidates aspiring for government jobs. It was asked whether the NRA has conducted any recruitment examination after its establishment.
The government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and two Information Commissioners are working in the Central Information Commission. Under the Right to Information, this commission hears appeals and complaints and there can be a maximum of 10 Information Commissioners in it.
