WPL 2024: Know rule was used for the first time in the history of WPL

For the first time in the history of the Women's Premier League, the rule of concussion substitute has been used. Gujarat Giants all-rounder Sayali Satghare has become the first concussion substitute in the match against Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. He has replaced Dayalan Hemlata. In the 15th over of Delhi's innings, Hemlata got injured on her forehead while trying to take a catch at deep midwicket off the ball of Katherine Bryce, due to which she had to leave the field.

Jess Jonassen played an aerial shot towards deep midwicket, but Hemlata, who was present there for fielding, failed to catch the catch. Dayalan Hemlata not only dropped an easy catch, but she also injured herself. After this, the physio was called on the field and then he was taken out of the field.

Sayali Satghare has become the first concussion substitute in the Women's Premier League. Sayali was bought by Gujarat Giants for Rs 2 crore in place of Kashvi Gautam. Sayali remained unsold in the WPL 2024 auction. Whereas his base price was Rs 10 lakh.

Gujarat Giants won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 163 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs thanks to a half-century by captain Meg Lanning. In response, Gujarat Giants collapsed for 138 runs. Jess Jonassen and Radha Yadav took 3-3 wickets for Delhi.
