Women's Day 2024: Train travel is comfortable for women, Indian Railways provides these special facilities

International Women's Day is celebrated every year on 8 March. This day is celebrated to promote women's empowerment. The Government of India takes many important steps to provide a safe environment for women.

In such a situation, Indian Railways also gives many benefits to women. Presently women can travel alone anywhere comfortably and safely. Many people are not aware of the facilities provided to women by Indian Railways.

Today we will tell you about the facilities available to women.

TT is unable to remove a woman from a train at night if she is, for whatever reason, travelling without a ticket. The woman can file a complaint with the railway authorities if any TT engages in such behaviour.

It is forbidden to ride the train without a ticket. Should a woman be dropped off at night for any reason, the RPF or GRP bears the responsibility for ensuring her safety.

They need to make sure the woman is safe and sound where they left her.

Indian Railways has given a quota to women on every train. In every sleeper coach, 7 lower berths are reserved for women. Whereas, 4 to 5 seats in 3-tier AC, and 3 to 4 lower berths in 2 AC are reserved for women.

If pregnant women, senior citizens, and women above 45 years of age travel by train, then they are given seats under this quota.

Female passengers above 45 years of age get lower berth seats in Indian Railways. This system is automatic in Indian Railways. If a woman has not selected a lower berth in the seat selection while booking a ticket and her age is more than 45 years, she will still get a lower seat.

This provision is the default in Indian Railways.

According to Indian Railways, women will get accommodation in unreserved categories even in mail or express trains. Apart from this, there will also be a separate coach for women on suburban trains or local trains.

Indian Railways also runs many special trains for women. Information about these trains can be found by visiting the railway office. Apart from this, separate halls or waiting rooms have also been made for women at many stations.
