Wimbledon 2024: Siniakova and Townsend pair won the Women's Doubles title

The Czech-American duo formed by Katrina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend secured a convincing win over No. 2 seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe to capture the Wimbledon Women's Doubles crown. It would have been an incredible comeback if they had managed to secure the first set for themselves, too. In two hours and four minutes, the pairing took a memorable victory against the defending US Open champion pair 7-6, 7-6 in consecutive sets. The third tournament in this pairing won them their first title. For Siniakova herself, this will be the third Wimbledon doubles trophy and her ninth major trophy overall. Townsend is the champion at a Grand Slam for the very first time. Before this, she has always been runner-up in doubles finals both at the US Open and Roland-Garros.

Townsend said after the match that I am feeling very good and I have received about 500 messages. I did not know that so many people have my number. This is my first Grand Slam title. I have come very close to it twice. We played well in this match. We were completely in control. The way we won this match was good.

Siniakova said that I agree with Taylor. I think it was a really tough match. We played amazingly. I think we are united. This is what makes the team even stronger. That's why I am proud of myself. Even though this is the ninth Slam, I am happy with the victory every time. Every time it feels different and good.
