Vinesh Phogat said- I am hurt by the silence of PM, Sports Minister was using mobile in the meeting
Vinesh Phogat on PM Narendra Modi: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has said that in the ongoing dispute between former Wrestling Federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and wrestlers, I am deeply hurt by the silence of the Prime Minister in this matter. While the wrestler was talking to Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, he was busy using his mobile. He was not interested in listening to our complaints.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has made a shocking claim in the ongoing dispute between former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and wrestlers. Vinesh clearly says that the central government is trying to save the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. That's why he can't get arrested. Vinesh further said - This issue has become so big, the wrestlers playing for the country have been sitting on dharna for so many days leaving everything, but the Prime Minister has not spoken a word on this, I am hurt by the silence of the Prime Minister.
Vinesh further told that on June 7, when the Sports Minister was holding a meeting with the protesting wrestlers, his attention was not towards us. Instead of listening to our concerns, he was busy with his mobile. He was not interested in listening to our complaints. Let us tell you that Sports Minister Anurag Thakur talked to the wrestlers a few days back. It was assured that the charge sheet of the case would be presented on June 15 and by June 30, WFI elections would be held in any case.
Vinesh Phogat further said that according to the statement of the Sports Minister, now we are waiting for the charge sheet. If there is no strict action against Brijbhushan even after that, then on the same night i.e. (June 15) a meeting will be held and the next day's movement will be decided and announced.
If the government does not allow us to start the dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, then we will start the movement again at Ramlila Maidan or any other place. Vinesh Phogat further accused Singh, saying that in training camps and tournaments, Brij Bhushan used every possible way to touch young female wrestlers when he found them alone. This used to happen again and again. But everyone used to remain silent because of fear.
Brij Bhushan Singh is a powerful man. There are so many heinous allegations against him, yet he is roaming everywhere, holding rallies and we are being forced to sit at home. Even after many complaints, no one was listening to us, we were forced to do a public demonstration, so that the country would know how the chief of the association treats the country's top wrestlers.
Delhi Police is now seen in action in the case of the sexual exploitation of female wrestlers against former Chief Singh. After taking testimony from International Referee Jagbir and Physiotherapist, now Delhi Police has sought help from 3 countries Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Indonesia in the investigation. Notices have been sent to their wrestling associations asking them to provide CCTV footage and photos of the places where women wrestlers have accused Singh of sexual harassment.
The wrestlers accused Singh of misconduct in 2016 and 2022 in Mongolia and in 2018 in Indonesia. Earlier, Delhi Police sent notices to 2 women wrestlers asking for photo, audio, and video evidence of sexual abuse. In this, everything has been asked from his hotel stay to roommates.
