Indian player Vaishnavi Tripathi created history by winning the gold medal in the International Moscow Wushu Championship. Vaishnavi, a resident of Rampur Baghelan in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, has become the champion by topping the women's 48 kg category. Vaishnavi, who had won gold in the Junior National Championship in 2019, defeated the Russian player in the final. Earlier, Vaishnavi had also defeated the player from Afghanistan. Players from 12 countries participated in this competition.

Vaishnavi's elder sister Gitanjali, who brought laurels to the country in this championship held in Russia from 28 February to 5 March, is also a Wushu player. Geetanjali has also won many medals at national and international level. Vaishnavi took up this sport only after seeing her sister. Vaishnavi's father Vinod Tripathi is in the police.
