Wednesday night saw the start of train operations once again on the track. Train service at Palghar station was resumed by Western Railway on Wednesday night. The goods train derailing resulted in the cancellation of 41 trains and the partial cancellation of 28 trains, Western Railway reported on Wednesday. 22 trains had their timing altered, and 12 trains had their routes altered.

According to the railways, the service of Mumbai's local train was also affected and trains coming to Palghar were also stopped. It is worth noting that seven bogies of the goods train derailed near Palghar at around 5 pm on Tuesday evening. Due to this, trains coming to Mumbai from Gujarat were badly affected. However, there was no loss in the accident. A goods train with 43 bogies, which was going from Visakhapatnam to Gujarat, met with an accident near Palghar on Tuesday evening. The train was loaded with iron and after the bogies derailed, the iron was scattered on the railway track. The railway track suffered heavy damage due to the accident. Train operations on one line had started on Tuesday night itself. About 250 workers were trying to normalize the situation by working continuously.

At the same time, due to the widening of platforms number 10 and 11 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the operation of trains on this route will remain closed for 36 hours. Railways said that due to this, a total of 72 mail express trains and 956 suburban trains and trains on the Harbour Corridor will remain closed from Friday to Sunday.
