Head of his own nation's opposition urged Maldivian President Muizzoo to extend an apology to Prime Minister Modi and Indians

The ongoing conflict between Maldives and India has not ended. Three Maldivian ministers made controversial comments about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indians while promoting Lakshadweep during his visit. Mohammed Muizzu, the president of the Maldives, remained silent on the subject as well. Furthermore, Muizzu's longstanding anti-Indian sentiment is not a secret. In such circumstances, a large number of Maldivians as well as Indians began to criticise their government. The government is facing opposition from opposition parties, and Muizzu's presidency is in jeopardy. In the meantime, Muizzu has received a demand from the Maldivian Leader of the Opposition.

The name of the Leader of the Opposition of Maldives is Qasim Ibrahim. Qasim is the leader of the Maldives Jumhooree Party and also the richest person in the country.

Maldives' Leader of Opposition Ibrahim has recently demanded that the country's President Muizzu apologize to Indian PM Narendra Modi and the people of India.

Ibrahim further said, "We should not talk about any country, especially the neighbouring country, which will affect the relations between the two countries. We have a responsibility towards our country which should be considered. President Solih had considered this responsibility and issued a presidential order banning the 'India Out' campaign. Now Yameen is questioning why Muizzu, who participated with him in the India Out campaign, did not reverse the President's decision."

Ibrahim asked PM Modi, the Government of India and the people of India to apologize for the statement given by Muizzu after he visited China. For your information, let us tell you that after coming back to Maldives from China, Muizzu made a statement targeting India, "We may be a small country, but that does not give you the license to threaten us."
