Tesla: Tesla files lawsuit against Xiaomi-owned Chinese company, accusing it of stealing technology secrets
America's leading EV manufacturer Tesla (Tesla) has sued a Chinese firm over technology secret violation and unfair competition disputes. News agency Reuters has given information about this. Interestingly, the Chinese company named Bingling Intelligent Technology, against which Tesla has filed a lawsuit in Shanghai, also includes Xiaomi as one of its stakeholders. Xiaomi reportedly owns an 11.9 percent stake in Bingling. The report also said that the Chinese firm designs microchips and other automotive components.

Trial timing
The lawsuit comes at a time when technology giant Xiaomi is aiming to capture a larger share of the electric vehicle market. Apart from this, Xiaomi is aiming to introduce autonomous driving technology in its electric car. Only last month, Xiaomi had received approval to manufacture electric vehicles from China's state planner National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Additionally, Xiaomi has already revealed its first electric sedan Modena, which is internally codenamed MS11. And its aim is to compete with the American electric car manufacturer's flagship model Tesla Model S. With the aim of mass producing Modena, the Chinese smartphone giant has joined hands with local companies in the country to set up a joint venture.
Theft charges have already gone
Interestingly, Tesla's accusation and lawsuit against the tech company is just the latest in the list of incidents when Chinese companies have been accused of stealing technology from other global companies. Earlier, a former Apple employee was accused of stealing data related to self-driving vehicles from the American technology head for a Chinese company. In fact, he later joined the joint venture between Chinese tech company Baidu and automaker Geely, under which both the companies are working on self-driving vehicle technology.
FBI has given a warning
In 2020, the FBI warned automakers in the US that China was making the theft of electric car technology a high priority. At present, China is one of the leading EV manufacturers in the world. In the Chinese market, several domestic electric car brands have tightened their grip on global automakers. In addition, Chinese EV manufacturers are also aiming to gain dominance in the global electric vehicle market.
