Sri Lanka appointed this Englishman as coach for only 3 Test matches, the series will be played with England only

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed former English cricketer Ian Bell as the batting coach for the upcoming England tour. Sri Lanka Cricket said that Ian Bell will join the team from August 16, and will remain with the team till the conclusion of the three-Test series. Sri Lanka Cricket Board CEO Ashley de Silva said, "We have appointed Ian so that the players can get important information about the conditions there. Ian has a lot of experience playing in England and we believe that his input will help our team in this important tour."

Ian Bell made his international cricket debut in 2004 through Test cricket and continued to play cricket for England till 2015. He has played 118 Tests, 161 ODIs and 8 T20 matches. The former England batsman has played 118 Test matches and scored 7727 runs at an average of 42.69. Bell also has 22 Test centuries to his name. He has also scored 4 centuries in ODIs.

The three-match Test series between Sri Lanka and England will be played from 21 August to 10 September. The first Test will be played in Manchester from 21 to 25 August. This series is important for both the teams in terms of the World Test Championship 2023-25. Sri Lanka (50 points) are fourth in the WTC standings, while England (36.54 points) are sixth.
