A 70-year-old Indian-origin man has been sentenced to 12 weeks in jail in Singapore. At the same time, the court also banned him from holding or obtaining driving licenses of all categories for eight years after his release. It is known that in the year 2021, a cyclist died in an accident, and action has been taken against him in this connection.

Convict Bhagwan Tulsidas Binwani's driving license had expired after he turned 65, yet he continued driving for the next three years until this horrific accident occurred. The court has also imposed a total fine of 3,800 Singapore dollars on him in this regard.

He pleaded guilty to the death of 54-year-old construction worker Khan Suruj, news agency PTI reported, citing The Straits Times report. Along with this, Binwani also admitted two other charges of driving without a valid license and driving without valid insurance. The court was told that Binwani runs textile wholesaler Binwanis Enterprises and he drove a van registered with the company at the time of the accident.

It is known that Binwani was driving a van on Jurong Port Road in the direction of Corporation Road, Western Industrial Area, Singapore at around 5 p.m. on December 27, 2021. During this, as soon as he turned to Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim Road, his van hit Suruj, who was cycling at the zebra crossing. After the collision, Suruj jumped off the bicycle and fell some distance, after which he was taken to the hospital. However, he died the next day due to a brain injury.
