Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has become the world number-1 batsman in ICC ODI rankings. He has achieved this feat by leaving behind Babar Azam of Pakistan. Babar remained at number-1 for 951 days. ICC has released the latest ODI rankings on Wednesday.
Gill reached the top with 830 marks. Babar Azam is at second place with 824 marks. Quinton de Kock is at third place with 771 points. Virat Kohli has reached fourth position. India's Mohammad Siraj has reached the top in the bowling rankings. Four Indian bowlers including Siraj have been successful in securing their place in the top-10.
Gill got the benefit of his innings against Sri Lanka
Gill has got the benefit of his 92-run innings played against Sri Lanka. He faced 92 balls and scored 92 runs at a strike rate of 100. He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings.
Kohli jumped three places
Virat Kohli was at seventh position last week. He got the benefit of his 101-run innings against South Africa in the World Cup and has jumped three ranks to fourth place with 770 points.
Siraj has advantage of two places
Mohammad Siraj has also reached the top among bowlers. Pakistan bowler Shaheen Afridi was on top in the rankings released last week. Siraj took 1 wicket against South Africa and 3 wickets against Sri Lanka in the match played after last week's ranking. Siraj has gained two places. He was in third place in the rankings released last week.
Apart from Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been successful in making their place in the top ten from India in the latest world rankings. Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan continues to top the list of ODI all-rounders with 327 points. Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan remains in second place with 290 points.
