There have been frequent reports of ethnic violence in the country's northeastern state of Manipur for the past two months. Meanwhile, Olympic silver medalist and star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has made a passionate appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to save her state. He has appealed to the PM and the Home Minister to end the violence and restore peace.

Chanu pleaded for help on social media, tagging both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Sharing a video of himself on Twitter, he said, 'Violence in Manipur is about to enter the third month and peace has not been restored yet. Due to the violence, many players of the state are not able to take training, education is being disrupted. Many people have lost their lives and many houses have been destroyed.

Chanu further said, 'Manipur is my home. Presently I am in the USA. Preparing for the upcoming World Championship and Asian Games. I am not in Manipur. Still, I think and see when this fight will end. I would like to appeal to our Prime Minister and Home Minister to put an end to the ongoing war as soon as possible and save all the people of Manipur. Bring peace to Manipur like before.

Let us tell you that since the beginning of May, violence has been going on between two ethnic communities Meitei and Kuki in Manipur. More than 150 people have lost their lives in the conflict that has lasted for more than two months, while many houses have been set on fire.
